So what is JOTA?JOTA is an annual event in which Scouts all over the world speak to each other by means of Amateur Radio Contacts. Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared, via the radio waves Where is itBuilding on the Success of JOTA 2008 here in Kimpton we have decided to run the event again but this time based in Harpenden. We will be located at the 3rd Harpenden, 35 Southdown Road, Harpenden, Herts, AL5 1PG. We are hoping that this will make the event more accessible Scouts across the district.
When?JOTA runs for 48hrs over the 3rd full weekend in October. You will be able to get involved on the Sunday afternoon 19th October 2009 - 2pm to 6pm. This is a drop in event event, although you will be expected to wear full smart uniform. This is a free event
WHY?This is your opportunity to talk to Scouts from other districts around the UK and also possibly to talk to other Scouts from other countries. JOTA can also be used to help you obtain your communicator badge.
What next? After the last JOTA 2009 we ran an RSGB Amateur Radio Foundation Course. As a result we now have 5 new Radio Scouters in the district. So if Amateur Radio is of interest to you let us know and we and get you booked onto our next weekend course.
